In this episode

In this episode I'm wrapping up season seven, and honestly, this year surprised me. My theme was "grow more in 2024," and I ended up growing in a way I never predicted — by finally saying yes to something listeners had been asking me for. I started a live event called Conversations with Passion and Purpose, where I interview a guest in front of an audience of women who can ask questions and network together. Three events in, and it has been such a joy to watch women connect, learn, and grow in the same room.

I also share a quote from Sarah Blakely that's been sitting with me — "do the crazy thing, be the weird one, make the art" — because it reminded me so much of my next live guest, Amy Siegfried. Amy is the kind of friend who keeps it real while cheering you on, and she has a business mind I've leaned on more than once. Our next event is Friday, September 13, and we'll dig into how to find your key differentiator, build confidence through sports, and get better at the art of small talk.

Before I take my summer break, I leave you with a little challenge: what can you accomplish in just five minutes? I'm taking the season to line up guests, upgrade my systems, and rest — and I'd love your guest suggestions. Whatever your summer holds, I hope it leaves you better off than today. Season eight kicks off August 20. Keep going, and keep the conversations going.

Key takeaways

  • Saying yes to the thing people keep asking you for can become your biggest growth — Nancy launched Conversations with Passion and Purpose after listeners requested a way to gather in person.
  • The live events are built for women to connect, learn, and grow: an in-person interview, audience Q&A, and time to network with other women.
  • Sponsoring a live event is a practical, low-pressure way for women with small businesses or products to get real exposure to a supportive audience.
  • Sarah Blakely's reminder to 'do the crazy thing, be the weird one, make the art' is an invitation to make your life richer through experiences — you only get one.
  • Your competitive edge starts with identifying your key differentiator, professionally or personally — the next live event with Amy Siegfried covers exactly that.
  • Small wins count: try using just five minutes intentionally — to plan your day, pray, meditate, or even knock out a short podcast episode.
  • Summer rest is productive too. Nancy uses the break to plan guests and upgrade systems — and welcomes listener guest suggestions via email or DM.

For me personally, I ended up growing in a way that I didn't even predict when I first started the podcast.
It's a great way for women to come together to connect, learn, and grow.
Do the crazy thing. Be the weird one. Make the art. Your life becomes richer with each experience you have, and you've only got one.
Time's gonna pass no matter what you're doing — I'm wondering what you've been able to accomplish in just five minutes.
