In this episode

In this episode I'm flying solo to wrap up Season 8, and honestly, it felt like sitting down with a friend to look back on everything we've learned together this year. I recently got to speak at a local high school about my career and how I got into podcasting, and sharing those takeaways with the students lit me up so much that I wanted to bring them straight to you.

So I walk through the big themes that have shown up again and again from my guests this season: passion, personal accountability, opportunity, and purpose. I share some words from incredible women like Mariel Farrion, Heather Matheson, Cindy Cain, and Britney Stokes that have stuck with me, plus the idea of setting BHAG goals — big, hairy, audacious goals — for the year ahead.

I also share an announcement about a product I've become passionate about, an invitation to my next live event with Amanda McKinney, and my theme for the new year: Thrive in 2025. I can't wait to dig into what thriving really means — mental, physical, and spiritual health — with you in Season 9. Keep going, friend. I'm so glad you're here.

Key takeaways

  • Passion is the thing you wake up excited to do and can't keep your mind off of — and when you've found it, the hard days are worth pushing through.
  • Personal accountability means showing up for yourself: believe in your idea enough to prioritize it, and invest in friendships and people who can cheer you on while you do the same for them.
  • Opportunities meant for you tend to find you — the real question is whether you'll say yes. Sometimes you create your own by following up, emailing, texting, and asking the next question.
  • Purpose equals fulfillment. As Britney Stokes put it, it's not about how big the reach is, it's about how deep the reach is.
  • Set BHAG goals for 2025 — big, hairy, audacious goals — and surround yourself with encouraging, supportive people who are chasing big dreams too.
  • Prioritizing your health sets you up to be your best self; a simple morning routine of movement, getting ready, and quiet time can put you in the headspace to handle anything.
  • Nancy's 2025 theme is 'Thrive in 2025' — exploring what thriving looks like across mental, physical, and spiritual health.

I think purpose is what we're supposed to do to impact the next person or leave our mark on this world. It doesn't matter how big the reach is. It's how deep the reach is.
Thrive in 2025 — I'm excited to find out what thriving is to people, and specifically what they're doing to thrive.
