In this episode I'm wrapping up my summer mini series on investing in your passion and purpose, and I saved one of my favorites for last: building your community. I'll be honest with you — this is something I put off for a long time. I had a lot of irons in the fire, and I didn't think it was my time to add live events. But the women in my Tulsa mastermind encouraged me to try, and in January 2024 I hosted my first Conversations with Passion and Purpose event. The number of women who showed up spoke to a need that was right under my nose.
So I want to talk with you about why community matters so much, whether you join a group that already exists or you start one right where you are. I share the three reasons I keep coming back to: support and encouragement, shared wisdom and growth, and accountability and momentum. So much of our work — as entrepreneurs, creatives, or someone inside a company — happens in a silo. It takes coming together to realize we're facing the same things and to pass along the resources and advice that move us forward.
